Have doubts or questions about the validity of Reiki?

No worries!
This is completely normal and reasonable to question any treatment or practices you are interacting with, as your body is sacred.
I encourage those who have questions to look through the studies and evidence of Reiki. Reiki works on a spiritual and scientific level, which many believe are separate concepts. I strongly recommend looking within and asking yourself what is right for you at this time and what energies you want to be aligned with. Follow your heart, follow your intuition, respect your body for where it's at, and trust in your journey.

If you practice Reiki and want to see how it works on a scientific level I welcome you as well to take a look! Enjoy!

"Why Reiki Has Been Discounted For years Reiki, along with other methods of holistic therapies were looked upon with disdain, even contempt from medical associations, practitioners, mainstream scientists, and clerics. The idea that the human body was permeated or surrounded by an invisible, etheric body of “life force energy” was considered to be no less than nonsense. These negative conclusions were formulated on the premise that “life energy” fields such as those accepted in China as Chi or qi, in Japan as ki, and in India as prana, were “unseen” and “immeasurable” by traditional research or scientific instrumentation. But now all that is changing."

These findings show that Reiki appears to be an effective and safe option for improving well-being in patients with blood cancer. These findings support the inclusion of Reiki into national health services, there by contributing to patients' welfare and consequently a better quality of life

Massage + Reiki produced better results amongst the groups and the conclusion is for further studies to be done with the use of a placebo group to evaluate the impact of the technique separate from other techniques.

Effects of Reiki on pain and selective affective and personality variables of chronically ill patients

"Dressing and Sing (1998) found that among cancer patients, Reiki brought about significant levels of pain relief, anxiety and depression reduction, improvements in sleep quality, relaxation, and general well-being." Personality changes such as a reduction in a trait, anxiety enhancement of self-esteem, and a shift toward a greater sense of internal locus of control were evident after Reiki. Reiki was shown effective and strengthening participants' faith in God. The results also show that men had a significantly greater reduction in depression than women, but women had significantly stronger faith in God after Reiki treatments the follow up show that Reiki had lasting effects up to 3 months"

Upon completion of treatment, there was a significant reduction in symptoms of psychological distress in treatment groups as compared with controls (P < .05; Eta square ranging from .09-.18), and these differences continued to be present 1 year later

"Some general trends seen with Reiki include periods of stabilization in which there is time to enjoy the last days of one's life, a peaceful and calm passing if death is imminent; and relief from pain, anxiety, dyspnea, and edema. Reiki is a valuable complement in supporting patients in their end of-life journey, enhancing the quality of their remaining days.”

Our hypothesis, therefore, is that Reiki appears to induce a profound relaxation response within 10 minutes for nearly all recipients. This relaxation may last from a few hours to even a week and is usually coupled with a reduction in client anxiety, tension, and aggression. Recipients of Reiki also generally express feelings of ‘peace’, ‘wellbeing’, and spiritual ‘upliftment’, with a greater ability to sleep after treatment. This is of very significant benefit for residents during the early stages of drug withdrawal, because difficulty in sleeping is a common problem.
